Where else to start if not in the upper left hand corner?
-at the center
-on the back
-underneath
-underwater
-in the soup
-bottom left
-top right
-every corner
-on the margins
-in a beehive
-in Tupelo, MS
Why not?

If you start in a beehive you will get stung. Better a bullhive, where you can run with them through the honeycomb, eat them in the streets.
Wow. Yeah.
start where you last stopped?
on the road
Begin where you end.
Thanks for the kind words about Patricia. It's kind of like losing a mother figure. Patricia was the chair of my graduate committee. For her graduate poetry workshop class, we would convene every Monday night in her living room. We take a break midway through the night and gather in her humble kitchen for wine, beer and great confabulation.
Now that's teaching (and learning)!
Underneath the floorboards a leftover heart beats to the tune of rock and roll music. A musician buried it after a murder and feels no guilt. He tunes his guitar with corpse blood running through his hands. His songs aren't lonely or sad; they say power erupts like volcanoes. All you need to do is pluck out the magma, cool it till you can steal what's not yours.
Ok, so maybe not Tupelo.
Tupelo is the last word the multi-millionaire said before his head hit the basket after being chopped off by the guillotine. In those days, lots of millionaires were executed, and each time they said a last word, it was always a town in Mississippi: Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Oxford, Jackson, even Meridian. Everyone's anxious to find a capitalist pig whose last remarks will move them all closer to Tennessee.
