Email from Four Ways Books

Fall 2007

Dear Writer:

Thank you very much for submitting your manuscript to the Levis Poetry
Prize.

On Saturday, I received word from Tony Hoagland that his selection is
/Rising/ by Farrah Field of Brooklyn, New York. I know that this is
disappointing news to you but I hope that you will continue to send your
work out to publishers you admire.

Ms. Fields book is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of
2009. She will receive $1000.00 and a reading in the Four Way Books
sponsored reading series, Readings on the Bowery, at the Bowery Poetry
Club in New York City.

In 2008, submissions will be accepted from January 1- March 31 for the
Intro Poetry Prize for first books. Brigit Pegeen Kelly will judge. In
2009, we will run the Levis Prize again, open to all poets, to be judged
by Mary Jo Bang. Four Way Books editors will consider manuscripts
outside of the contest each June. For information, please check our
guidelines.

With gratitude for your support of Four Way Books,

Ryan Murphy

Tupelo Honey

Dorset Prize

I wish Jeff Levine would write me another form letter about my orphic utterances. One reason I haven't written Tupelo off is because I've noticed that Margot Schlipp is an associate editor. I remember when she was editing Quarterly West. I had a couple of brief, but nice letters from her. Also, I like her poems. The other reasons are, well, I like some of the books they've published a lot.
